The Duke of York is particularly special being the oldest inn in Lichfield built in 1644!
The oldest pub has ancient oak beams which span the old bar and seem to defy gravity as they have settled over the pub’s 400 year story – it’s older than America! The front bar has remained pretty much unchanged in that time, a big inglenook and lovely real fire, oak benches and wide oak timber floor.
The back bar used to be the coaching stables and has been known as the ‘back room’ for years. It was once the extra smart room, totally separate and the beer used to be tuppence more. Now the beer prices are the same but it’s still a shade quieter than the old bar and with its own real fire.
Always on Tap, Joule’s Pale Ale, Slumbering Monk, Pure Blonde and our english craft lager Green Monkey, alongside our rotating seasonal ale and cold craft beer. All brewed in Market Drayton with pure Shropshire mineral water.
Easy parking can be found at the rear of the pub.
